Community Sponsorship

The UK government recently announced community sponsorship  - a scheme which allows groups of neighbours to welcome Syrian families into their communities.

We are rapidly building up the teams and finding the houses to make this a reality.  Click on Croeso Teams above to find out about the teams in your area.

The Home Office require £4,500 per adult which makes it £9000 for a 2-adult family. Each Croeso team has an account and there is a Hiraeth Hope account. contact info@hiraethhope.org.uk for details.

There are regular fundraising events to go to, and meet the communities behind the dream.

Eligible families are chosen by UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees). They come from countries bordering Syria, such as Lebanon.

Potential hosts are sent descriptions of the families, and we can accept or refuse.

Families will have the status of UK residents for five years.  After this they can apply to remain.

Teams have sprung up in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.  Each has its own coordinator and meetings.

There is immense talent and enthusiasm for community settlement here in West Wales. We are working with the charity Citizens Cymru Wales / Citizens UK as the official sponsor.

If you want to get involved or if you think there is potential elsewhere in Wales, contact info@hiraethhope.org.uk
